Umar Gul is a Pakistani fast bowler who becomes famous because of his in-swinging Yorkers. In T20 cricket his achievements as a bowler is quite amazing. He takes five wickets for 6 runs in ICC T20 World Cup 2009 which is the best bowling figure for any bowler in T20 cricket. He was the best bowler in ICC T20 World Cup 2007 and 2009. This also presents his class in the format that considered being only for batsmen.

In the beginning of his career he is quit lucky to have a team mates like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar. These legendry fast bowlers thought him how to bowl in latter over with old ball and especially the reverse swing. Wasim and Waqar are considered to be the masters of that art and Umar Gul after playing with them and receiving help from them has been able to develop and use reverse swing as a lethal weapon in his bowling as well. In his career he faced some back injuries but that also did not affect his performance. In fact, after every injury he seems to be more fit and enthusiastic then before. Some time because of the premium bowler of Pakistani bowling lineup he also face criticisms but he prove those critics wrong by his performance.
